This activity allows participants to reflect on the time, talent and treasure they can give back to their communities. It provides an opportunity for them to make a personal commitment to philanthropic action.

Objectives

  • To have each participant begin to view themselves as a “Philanthropist”
  • To ask each one to determine what they have to give as time, talent, and treasure to their organization and/or community

Activity

The facilitator hands the worksheets out to each youth participant and explains that they now have the knowledge and experience to be able to contribute meaningfully to their organization and community. The participants will be given time to fill out the Personal Contribution Worksheet.

Reflection/Discussion

Upon completing the worksheets, the facilitator asks the participants to discuss their answers with another person. The facilitator brings the group back together and asks them to share their responses. Some discussion should take place about what they believe and value.

Explain that philanthropists believe in the mission of the good work they do. So, they are very willing to give of their TIME, TALENT, and TREASURE. The Personal Contribution Worksheet remains with the participants as a reminder of what they have committed to do.
